Hi, I have just returned from Washington on the Brazos doing research on Elijah Stapp….I am fascinated by Nancy Shannon Stapp and the fact that she would come with her husband to the land Of Texas with so many children…the Runaway Scrape is an amazing event in Texas history.my linage is though Daughter Rebecca Maragaret Stapp, Rebecca married Nathaniel Stukes. Their daugher Frances was my Grandfather’s Mother. My Granfather was Samuel Levi Lewis.

Rebecca Maragarent Stapp Stukes/ Frances Marion Stukes Lewis/ Samuel Levi Lewis/ Charles Arthur Lewis/ Carol Ann Lewis Allen- me! I don’t know if that makes me 5th or 6th Generaltion. My Children are Amy Colleen Allen Hinton and Scott Michel Allen. My Daughter, Amy, has a Son, Nathaniel Levi Hinton and will have a Daughter in the next week of so….not sure of her name yet.

I too am in awe of this family and am so proud to be part of the Stapp family. Thank you for starting this Blog!!!

Hello Carol Ann Lewis Allen!… Thank you for commenting and introducing yourself and sharing your lineage information. Please feel free to start new posts and tell us more about your branch of the family. I was inspired by your comment to google search your ancestor’s name and I came across the poem she wrote in 1882 that spoke to the difficulties of the era. I’m sure you have seen it, but I will repost it for the benefit of other Stapp descendants.

I am the granddaughter of Samuel Preston Glass of Gatesville, Texas. My mother was Freda Elizabeth Glass Curry. William Samuel Glass was my great-grandfather. I am so intrigued to learn more about my family history! I have my baby book with all the names on the family tree and also have pictures of Samuel Preston Glass. I now live in Whitney, Texas, but grew up in Gatesville. So glad to find this blog!

Hi Barbara, Thanks for commenting and introducing yourself. I have forwarded your message to my sister, who is the genealogist of our little branch of the family. Anything I know about distant family history I have learned from her… and after a little passage of time I get fuzzy on the details, so I would rather take your request back to the source. Hope she’ll reply.
